She has been labelled the Terminator by human traffickers. For her untiring efforts in fighting sex slavery and exploitation of women and children, Anuradha Koirala was chosen CNN Hero 2010. Sunday Star catches up with this feisty woman.
WITH a twinkle in her eyes and her hands clasped, Anuradha Koirala greets everybody she meets with the customary Namaste greeting. “Call me Dijuu (elder sister in Nepalese),” says the motherly figure with a warm smile that instantly draws you to her. But if you’re a human trafficker, you had better watch out because Koirala is out to get you!
The founder and executive director of Maiti (Mother’s Home) Nepal personally raids brothels in India to rescue trafficked Nepalese girls and brings them back home. And she even patrols the India-Nepali border to keep a lookout for vans and buses crossing the border that may be used to traffick women and children.
Maiti has saved more than 12,000 girls from sex slavery and prevented 45,000 children and women from being trafficked at the border.Read more.......

Although i never met this incredible woman, but i respect and salute her.
Human trafficking
I am consider myself very lucky living in this earth. We have a peaceful place to live even though as not peaceful as we let our children play alone outside the gate like we did last time. Free to play outside. Free to walk to and back from school. But this time, i am worry to let my girl play alone eventhough inside the gate.Alone. Because the earth is not safe place to live anymore.
Compare to others country maybe we consider ourself more bless living here. Only that we have more precautions! Children missing and never return was happen.
I just read and heard the news what happen to others country, it make me angry and i want to have a super power to save them instantly. Only God knows. Let's us pray, especially to women and children that have been violated and raped. God has mercy on them and punish the satan behind those human's face.
Domestic violence.
This case thus happen here and everywhere. If he beats you up everyday, actually you're not marry to a man but to satan behind man's face. Man give you love you're deserve but satan give you pain from hell. Logically, you're suppose to escape from hell and go to heaven. Ask help and leave him for you to continue a good and peaceful live. Life vs honour of name, i will choose life that God gives me. Honor? What's in honor? What's is so honor in this temporary life? Life is just once so we 're suppose to treasure life by doing goods thing. I hope bad humans like human trafficker , abuser and rapist will be vanished from this earth.

Where and how do I apply for a domestic violence protection order?
Combined and collaborative efforts between the Department of Social Welfare [1], Royal Malaysian Police[2] and the courts [3] are needed to provide assistance and protection to victims of domestic violence and their children.
Lodging A Police Report
Go to the nearest police station and lodge a police report against your spouse or offender for domestic violence.
Make sure you make a written report of all violence acts committed by your spouse or offender against you. Provide as much evidence and information as possible about the incidents, proving the severity of your case. Evidence can come from a variety of sources such as neighbour who witnessed the incident, police report, medical report and recordings of abusive telephone messages. Supply the date, time and location of each incident. At the same time, notify the police officer that you need protection from your spouse or offender and require an interim protection order. A police report will be given to you. Always get a certified copy of the police report.
Ask for the names, police identification numbers and contact numbers of the police officers in charge of your case. They should be carrying their police identification card at all times while on duty.
The police will undertake an assessment and make a referral to the relevant Department of Social Welfare (Malay: Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat).
The police is responsible for investigating the matter and deciding whether to charge the offender which must be done within twenty-four (24) hours of arrest. Depending on the strength of the evidence and prospect of conviction, the police may detain the offender for more than twenty-four (24) hours but not more than fourteen (14) days if an extension has been granted by the court.
Applying For An Interim Protection Order
Proceed to the nearest Department of Social Welfare, bringing along with you the police report. Inform the social welfare officer your situation and your need for an interim protection order. The social welfare officer will
- assist you and your children in applying for an interim protection order from the court;
- assist you in getting medical treatment at the nearest public hospital if you are injured. Ask for a medical report;
- provide or arrange for you an alternative residence or temporary shelter if required;
- accompany you to your residence to collect personal belongings; and/or
- assist you in getting your children settled in their new life and school if needed.
