Buah Dabai

 

 

Hi, what for your lunch today ?. 

 

Well, we have this fruit season in here, include buah dabai season or 'black olive' as people call it here, but actually it is not olive, dont mistake.

 

How to cook buah dabai ? It is very easy by soaked in hot water for several minutes or till soft , add salt or ketchup then served. Or other method is you can do the 'tempoyak' then add salt, anchovies and garlic then fry.

Pucuk Paku Renyuk

Now I am coming back to share.

I make this dish Pucuk Paku Renyuk or vegetable umai for lunch time a month ago. A recipe;

Pucuk paku muda @ fiddlehead fern, a young shoot with the may leaf is better.
Lime/lemon or  assam payak either one.
Chilli
Anchovies
Belacan @ fermented shrimp paste
Red onion
Salt
Seasoning
The quantity as you wish or sesedap rase.

How.

Squeze the fern with the lemon to shrunken.

Then mix all together the ingredient above.

Stubbornness

Have you ever come across the stubbornness people around you in the world? Stubborn .Stubborn! Stubborn! Stubborn and Stubborn! Really and very stubborn! My points of views are general.

 Pretty bad the consequences of these people to other people are you’ll get sick example high blood don’t you are agreed? Why the consequence interrelated to the high blood. Well, because you in always high ‘temperature’ and explode. Or when you in high ‘temperature’ but you are trying to maintain it cool, no explosion, you keep the explosion...but you will wait it can be explode anytime and it so damn dangerous if it is explode anytime well I am not a doctor or the expert, my saying. There will be no word of willingness to listen to other in this type of person category. I think Stubborn people will create a trouble to himself/ herself and unluckily create troublesome to people surround her/him. You are not even finish the saying he/she will interrupt in the middle of the conversation. I think this type of person should attend the class, Listening Skill or Stubbornness Management.

I will be agree sometimes to be stubborn is good. Point checked but I don’t have a time to check the point but too stubborn. Need a good break with a fun picture.

 

Back from Hometown

Dear blog, you're being abaonded abandoned lately. *See, spelling abandoned pun dah lupa*. There is one useful of blogging besides sharpen the idea of writings and sharing, correct the spelling.

Being have a long break from blogging.Real life been busy.If not busy there will be really no idea to write.

Recently, I was back to my hometown. Tada, a picture to share. All taken with Canon digital shot.

 When I look at bridge across the river, I count my age, as the same my age.

River still as the main medium of transport although it is accessable to road.

I cannot resist the swim in the water during the dry season, jump into the river with shirt and jeans..

I follow the sister to send her kids to school, my ex- primary school.I reminiscing the school kid memories.**Warning: Kindly dont' take this picture for your own use.I will find and punish you.This totally for blog reading  pleasure.***I did read about other blog, where her kid picture been used without permission for  advertising co.in Malaysia.

Gain Some Water...

There was rain pouring down last night, at least cool down the dry spell we been expericed nowadays.The worst part during the dry season, the water tap could be dry also especially in some kampungs with no water supply aka ai pehintah or ai pasar.Some of them have to wake up as early 3.00 am to get pails of water because at that time can get a good water pressure to  gain a few pails of water.

Balleh river. The colour of water never change from yellow. People call this Milo water. Don't the water look yummy,is it?

Our people name this river wongg babi, at Mujong river.There so many boars swim across this river during dry season. I saw once 20 yrs ago.Water level reduce duirng dry season, and you can see true crystal colour of the water. During childhood, the river always our favourite place to cool down ourselve during dry season, mandi until forget to go home or until the eyes red then go home.Mandi sungei everyday,the best part of my life my kid could never experience it nowaday.

Stage Fright

There was a guy ask me. How to differentiate the Bidayuh folk from Iban? I said maybe when you heard them talking then you know. Me the only Iban folk in the pic, one amoi and the rest are Bidayuh gorgeous girls. Can you find one?

Picture was taken during the dinner, just a casual dinner a night before last night. I would like to share something that is always in my mind. ..

In my whole life I was never stand alone in front of the crowd. I mean like joined the singing competition, Kumang Gawai contest very far a part or become MC or host a ceremony. But for this casual dinner, I was given by a task to become a MC. I was so damn culture shock, like someone being interrupt my very own comfort zone when look at the guests list given.I have this kind of stage fright symptom.

When the event was over, I think it back, I just want to say maybe a Fear Conquer it All.

Gawai Mood on the Air

Gawai mood on the air…

I have this kind of mood when Gawai Festival is approaching..

There is still one week to go…

The mood symptom I call it, in order to celebrate the upcoming season is making new hair style. There you go, usually our mothers, aunty, me myself, young and old ‘busy’ to find a saloon to make new hair style. Not just at home, we in the office also talking about which new hair style compatible to celebrate this wonderful festival..Include me which I wish for new color for my hair before Gawai Day. Typical me.

Not just talking about new hair style but also the dress for berGawai. I manage to buy some from online. Things get easy and no need to join the crowd at a pasar. These mood symptom again I call it look like every year tradition  as I see it. But from my husband perception, he not gonna need a new hair style or a new shirt. He is very easy man; wearing old shirt also can celebrate gawai as he said.

There is another perception become some people tradition, which is  bergawai is for happiness and jolly so you will drink tuak, (rice wine) alcohol, liquor what so ever like Bicardi they name it BAKA DIK (Look like you).Some of them even use a bowl..but up to them if they have an ability to drink like that.But I just hate when people is Drink, drink until get drunk and become crazy. I see from friend’s wall, some are get drunk until poo poo in tha pant. Holy crazy.. Don’t they ever wonder what outsider even think of this kind of attitude? It is a big mistake in the culture. Nila setitik rosak susu sebelanga. Actually, if they ever ask their forefather a meaning of Gawai ? Our family opinion about Gawai Day is a mark of being grateful to GOD for a wonderful harvest.You can drink a little of tuak to seal a Gawai Day. I think a harvest is not in form of paddy rice harvesting, other form like being grateful for your success also can celebrate Gawai. Like me myself, even though I am not plant and harvest paddy rice but I have harvest something in my life, I also can celebrate ber gawai. For sure, it is a season of happiness and jolly and celebrates together with among family members, but not a season for you to become a kaki botol. Parents are waiting for your coming.

Another symptom of celebration of this season is packing. There you go; normally it took me early as 1 week before to pack before balik kampong.

Some mothers prepare early some kueh like roti jala, roti chuan. These are dried roti and can be stored a month in aluminum tin. When talking about food, I always thinking to cook for ayam pansoh, kueh penyaram ( Mexican hat) and upa panto(jungle shoot vegetable) and chicken mixed with upa pisang ( banana shoot). I am looking forward to serve my pengabang (visitor )with open heart. I also drink tuak, just a little to seal a day.Sometime the naughty people push rather hard for you to drink, but you know your own ability.They just  want to be naughty with you at this wonderful season, but you know when the kidding thing should be stop!  Sometime good tradition being misunderstaning, like when you visit our long house it is compulsory to greet people with tuak when you at the first step at the ruai mean they really welcome you and want you to be part of the celebration,drink a little just to show kind of respect and culture..If you want to drink much, as your wish then..

There is another bad symptom before this wonderful day is coming; I feel sore throat today and I feel my body is sometimes hot and cold. We experienced hot weather here...and short raining on an evening.

Being a mother as I wish...

Why that mother abuse her own biological child? Or ever ask why animal eats their young baby ? I heard but never see that cat eat their kitten. Why? Because it is an animal they dont have ethic , or the cat is going crazy, too hungry or other reason for other baby to survive so the other  have to sacrifice. Just assume.

I see the update via friend’s wall in a facebook, but I feel do not like to watch the video. I do not want to watch the video, my heart will be broken. The questions and assumption play in people mind. Why mother abuse her own baby in such that way? God, I really want to know the answers why that mother was turn to monster. Lets include in your prayer for non discover case of abuse children, hopefully a miracle will happen and God will save them. Have faith.

Being a mother..….Ask every mother in the world. Let’s pooling the opinion.

I am a mother to 3years old little girl. She is love of my life. Taken care of her during baby was precious time. I learn something a lot. Be patient, reasonable attitude and good time management is required when taking care of baby. One funny experience, I have to bring her to toilet together, that’s very emergency and she cried when I leave her alone for a while. She wants to be cuddle along the time.. First time as a mother, I am so excited. Life is happy, joy and life even more interesting. This new journey will be so exciting. Life is more meaningfully.

Life, as everybody knows it. There and that in between. Life juggles as a mother between Work, house chore, personal issue and so on. All of these enough to accumulate large pile of stress. Don’t get near to your kids when you are stress.  Being born in my community, I ve seen my mother woke up early as 4 a.m to prepare the thing before go to paddy field then back to home when the sun down. At home, the tiredness not even fully releases, the house chores, cooking, washing still need to be done. Children need to be entertained with the grumpy, cranky, and fussy and so on .The different is I am sitting in the office with the aircond. From the beginning of time until now, mother always works hard as father does even not be able to carry the heavy thing in shoulder. Stay at home mom even works harder, how I wish every father in world understand this. To tell you, I am a lucky with husband helping hand not just sit down watch TV, or go for recreational activity with his friend after back from work and come home dinner awaiting .We don’t have anybody to lean on. We rely on each other to raise our kid. To handle one kid I tell you not that easy task I guess parents understand about this big responsibility. . How could you imagine handling 1football team of kid? I salute. Lives as we choose it so live with it.Or life choose us. Thinking about how lucky you are?

Feel relieve.

If

You don't give yourself a break, you will never have one.

Today kerja, tomorrow kerja. Work will never be finished.When one was finished, another one comes up or if one not even to complete another one will add up.

Today I feel the relieve like reach the first point of the destination even though still have another round of journey to complete.

Or today I feel the relieve like satisfy the taste bud like strong desire of craving for some food.

TGIF : Facial story.Whatever.

Wish my skin like her. Baby skin forever.

I want to reveal something that not so secret thing and I admit without shy. As today we have long hours lunch break, I go for facial after the appointment been confirmed by last week. The beauty salon our neighbor next door to our office.

At first place, I just want to look and see see, then after strong influence by the colleague, I agree to go for facial while accompany her to laser her face.

There are very welcoming welcome by the tokey neo as she use to see us every day. .Paduhal, this my even first time to go inside after been working so long here.

The facialist lead me to the room, the room with low light and welcome to sleep. She asks me to take up the shirt and lie down relax fully. Then she askes me.

‘’ You do normal faces? How about with the machine one? Machine one is better and smooth you only added another RM20 only.’’

I say OK. See, the promoter always win when promote the products to me. Haha.

Then, she starts to cleanse up my face. There is conversation in between.

“Your skin is good? What you use”

Me : Is it ? I use Elianto. Sometime I uses mix product like Safi Gold.

She : Oh Elianto.

Then, she rubs up my face. After that I feel something not very hot unto my face. While I relax in peace in mind and enjoy the process, there I heard my collegue in laser process which the bed next to me screaming and ouch!ouch in between. Mau cantik mesti ada sakit maa. Giving birth lagi sakit ! that’s I heard the towkey neo. Never you compare about giving birth and do this facial macam digigit semut, it is greatest pain at all.

Now, back to the process. After the hot process, then she cleans up my face again put some lotion. Then I feel she aim my cheek with something freaking sharp utensil, she squeeze and extract and squeeze again the stubborn thing inside my skin. The pain like ant’s bitten my face together with the tears falling down and falling down.

She ask : “Sakit kah? Ini ada stubborn sedikit. Lama sudah tidak facial ? “

Me: “ sakit sedikit’ Ya lah saya ini malas.Memang tidak pernah cuci bukan lama sudah tidak” Damn it, this is my first time to go for facial you squeeze the virgin face, no outside maintenance ,been living in the earth so long. Then after cheek part the ‘pain process I call it then goes to forehead, cheek and nose. I hate nose part the most. Then another process with those machine and equipment began. It feels cold and heals the pain.

This process I enjoy the most. She put the cold mask and massages shoulder and finger as well. I think I want to sleep and that is noon time after lunch. That’s all just for sharing.

Somewhere the date in February 2012.I am having a problem to remember the date, cannot jadi reporter bikin repot adalah. Sunged was having her first haircut at Wisma Saberkas, before this her mommy tak bertauliah tukang potong rambut anak.

The outcome. Her daddy prefer for her long hair, but I prefer her in short neat hair as for now.Time flies so fast, toddler grows up me grow old.Teringat zaman kecik kecik dulu banyak kutu.Stay in boarding school cannot lariii dari kutu. Kata orang-orang tua, kalau terlampau banyak kutu di kepala nanti kutu-kutu angkat you terbang pergi pokok ketapang, so mesti rajin jaga kebersihan kepla.

I heart My Longhouse

This is not so old story to share.About 3 months ago I was in my long house to visit my parents. Now I plan a time to go back again.

How I miss my little village so much. This bridge as same age as me. I still remember the official ceremony of lunching this bridge. We jump to the water to get the balloon before it go with the river flow down to the stream.

I won't regret.But if I got the choices I will choose to stay in this little village, living a simple life. Nowadays nothing is simple as that simple.What simple life mean to me maybe different to you.After all, I have to fulfill a demand of life and seek for better choices.

Once upon a time, now very rare or no more , this river as a source of food from fish caught.Everyday the folks ate fish with many ways to serve; fried fish, steam fish , salai fish and pekasam fish with kepayang. I just name a few type of fish from Empurau, tengadak and semah.Now, baong fish pun hardly to catch.

Sunged was sitting at the ruai with her ineks.Ruai as a place to connect the people after having a work day or having a chit chat at ruai before go to bed or you can do handy craft like crochet and share your pattern with other folks or you can share your expertise of making pua kumbu at ruai.

Bathing at river on fine evening and you can swim as farrrrrr as you can.

Or you can use sampan to go to other river with crystal water.

Roti Lenga Makes Me Upset...

This early afternoon I feel so hungry bear eventhough I just take lunch just now.One of the factor, maybe there is so cold outside and metabolism works harder and I need a cup of tea with kueh lenga to satisfy the need.I am a fan of kueh lenga. Dari kecik sampai besar.But this kueh lenga taste so terrible, looking at the expiry date still long to go to expired. A bit upset..

Roti ayam also always my favorite, having together with evening tea. I see the size is shrinking compare to old time. Or maybe I have my wrong eyes due to lack of sleep at last night. I been woke up many times last night due to my daughter having problem to sleep well. She was been woke up more than 3 times and I can see her eyes widely open looking at me in the dark at the open living room where we were slept.She keep on holding and hugging my arms all night long.They were too much watching the scary t.v drama.Parents are bring example to the kids.

Tradisi Merasa Nasi Baru

Well, not too old story for sharing. Last Sunday after Sunday Mass we have this kind of tradition of gathering among families, neighbors and villagers eat new rice produced from first harvested. After harvesting season, Gawai Festival is approaching. Time flies fast.

The outcome from the leave.The aroma of the rice so heaven! I could tell you cannot resist to add another plates of rice and serve with bamboo chicken.Life so good.





After so long, how could i forgot the name of this fruit.I think this Iban black olive.. Bidayuh call this ' buah kop'.

After boiled, they marinate in tempoyak according to aunty. Taste like kuaci but a bit sour.

I could believe that!

Water Dragon blows out it's fire

Yesterday was so freaking hot outside. Planning for gardening and burning the scrap had to be cancel up due to scared of sun burn.I think Dry season is coming up aka Water Dragon blows out it's fire.

At night, I plan to watch the AJL 26, but feel very sleepy.Forget about AJL.
